Mardis Gras

Im from the North so the whole idea of mardis gras is very strange to me. I enjoy watching how crazy everyone gets in the area with all the parades, balls, and parties. For myself i really didn't do anything for Mardis Gras. I went to a theme party in Pensecola that was fun but really wasn't apart of the whole event. Next year I plan on trying to be more involved.

Class Room Blogs

Marby has a great blog site for its school. Every teacher has a blog containing information about their classes and the subjects they are covering. The site goes even futher with everyone on the school staff has a blog. The principle gives out information regarding school issues, and the have a blog called counserlors corner which gives students information on school events and activities. This is a great site because in alot of the teacher blogs they have assignments that the students are working on and have practice quiz questions, maps, and links to reference websites

Greater Houlton Christian Academy has a blog site for their teachers to give comments about the day and school activites and events. Their blogs are mainly for the use of the parents. This is a great way for teachers to keep parents informed about what is going on in the classroom, but it also gives parents a chance to voice concerns and get questions answered without having to go into the school. since so many parents are busy this helps with the communication that has been lacking in education

Blog Experience

Over the last few weeks we have been blogging in class to get a feel of how it would or could work in the classroom setting. I am not new to blogging and have taken a few college courses online where blogs and discussion groups are used on a regular basis.

So I am sure blogs can be used in the classroom setting. But I think it depends on the subject being studied. In a class like English I think it could be very useful in the creative writing area. I will be teaching history and at this point i don't see much use blogging would provide my students that would enhance there education.

I have had a positive expereince so far using blogging in this class. It has been a great way to get to know the student in the class and see their thoughts and feelings. The major problem for me is finding a little time each week to really blog and keep up with it. But so far so good

State of the Union

Another year has gone by and its time for President bush's State of the Union address. First off i want to say what a complete waste of time this yearly obligation has become. No matter how bad things are or good they are, the President always says the "State of the union is Good". I don't know what planet they are living on sometimes but is the state of our country that good? Im not saying we are bad off or worse than other nations but give me a break. We are involved in a civil war that has no end in sight and we have soldiers dying daily for an unjust and illegal war. The economy is starting to slow down has the Bush economic policies are starting to effect us. We have a continual threat of terrorism that hangs over out heads, mainly for the use of our government to keep us scared so we will support the war and their policies. Socially drugs, racism, the poor, and our poor education system are still issues that are not adressed and are getting worse every year. So if the state of our union is so good, I would hate what be considered bad.

American Idol

The new season of American Idol began this week and I must say this is a highlight of my year. I know it is sad but I find enjoyment in the whole process of bad singers and making fun of them and then finally finding true talent. Ive been watching the show since it began, even before it became popular and it just keeps getting better. Other than American Idol the only shows Im looking forward to their new seasons are 24, Rome, and Weeds.

Work Stress

Its amazing to me how companies that make so much money can be so inept when it comes to management. The company I work for in the last year after I recieved a promotion as moved me to four different buildings for no particular reason or explanation. I just got back from vacation and I was told I was moving again because they are closing my buildings desk down after 6pm to save money. The problem with this logic is no money is being saved because no people are being fired just moved to other buildings. If I didn't get paid so well and neeed the hours I work there to get through school, I would have left already.
